The "Hutong" in Beijing is an ancient type of alleyway residential structure located in the center of the city, surrounded by modern skyscrapers. The chaotic yet orderly brick wall structures and the warm, honest streetlights captivate the Tuma amidst the steel city of metal and glass. For the residents, they have their own time and life, isolated from the noisy and hectic urban life outside. Yet, because many residents are taxi drivers or couriers, they form an essential foundation of the city.As the city develops, this unique culture and lifestyle are gradually fading away with the aging residents. Over the years, whenever the night falls and tourists leave, the Tuma often visits the Hutongs, sets up the camera, and presses the shutter, hoping to preserve it all eternally on celluloid.
